1. What do I do about Missed Pickups?

2. What is the procedure for Appliances, Mattresses, Box Springs, pickup?

Call Capitol Waste Services at 617-569-1718 at least one week in advance.  You will be scheduled for collection at that time.  Mattresses must be in a plastic bag (box spring bagging optional but helpful).  Bags are available for $5. at Town Hall, Treasurer's Office, Water and Sewer Department, 85 Quincy Ave and Richmond Hardware, So. Braintree Square.

 

3. What is procedure for Large/Bulk Items/Furniture?

Two pieces are allowed out for collection per week.  Call Capitol Waste at 617-569-1718 to schedule pickup.

4. Will WOOD be picked up?

Only if cut into 4 ft. lengths and bundled/tied...Up to 3 bundles per week.  NO WOOD IS ALLOWED IN CARTS.  Pallets are not collected curbside or at the Recycle Center Dropoff.

5. Can I recycle shredded paper?

Only if in securely fastened paper bags and dropped off at the Recycling Center at 257 Ivory Street (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 7:15am-2:45pm  & Sat 7:15-noon)

6. How do I dispose of a TV/Electronics?

Bring to the Rotary Club Electronics Collection.  You can also take TVs/Electronics to Best Buy or McConnell Enterprises, both in Braintree.

7. How do I purchase a Compost Bin?

Compost Bin Purchases – Available to Braintree Residents Only - Only allowed 2 per year per address

Compost bins can be purchased at Treasurer/Collector’s Office, 1 JFK Memorial Drive, Braintree, MA 02184.  The Treasurer/Collector’s Office will process your request and the Compost Bin will be delivered to your residence.  Beginning April 3, 2023 the Compost Bins will cost $35.

8. How do I dispose of Construction Materials?

Construction & Demolition Bulky Waste

Construction and Demolition bulky waste, is not picked up curbside and not accepted at the Residential drop-off center. Construction and Demolition (C&D) includes: windows, doors, flooring, roof materials, fencing, pallets, toilets, etc. - ANY NON-Household trash item per new MA Dept. of Environmental Protection Regulations.    Construction and Demolition bulky waste including pressure treated wood, may be brought to:

• As an alternative to renting a dumpster, Waste Management sells "the Bagster" at most local hardware or home improvement stores, for more information view the Waste Management Bagster website. They hold 3 cubic yards of material. Call them for a pickup when it is full. $300 includes pickup.
